Cold email

Definition

Cold email is a one-to-one message to someone you have no prior relationship with, sent because there is a specific reason they might care.

Cold email in practice

Cold email is cheap to send and expensive to send badly. It works when three things hold: the infrastructure is set up so mail lands in the inbox, the contact is verified, and the email gives a reason that is about the reader, not about you. Volume without a reason is what gets domains burned.

In the systems IV builds, email is the first channel in a fixed order: email, then LinkedIn, then voice. A reply on any channel stops the others, because suppression is shared across all three.
