Domain reputation

Definition

Domain reputation is how trustworthy mailbox providers judge your sending domain, built from authentication, complaint rates, bounces and recipient engagement.

Domain reputation in practice

Each mailbox provider keeps its own view of your domain, and none of them publish the full formula. What feeds it is well understood: consistent authentication, low spam complaints, low bounces, steady volume, and recipients who open, reply and move your mail out of spam.

Reputation is slow to build and fast to lose. One campaign to a bad list can undo weeks of warmup. That is why outbound runs on secondary sending domains, and why volume per domain should rise slowly.
