Technographics

Definition

Technographics describe the software a company uses, detected from website code, job posts, DNS records or vendor data, to qualify accounts and personalise outreach.

Technographics in practice

Knowing an account runs a competitor, a complementary tool, or nothing at all changes the message completely. Technographic data is collected from several places: scripts on the company website, DNS records such as MX that reveal the email provider, mentions in job descriptions, and vendor panels.

A change in stack is more useful than the stack itself. A company that just added a tool you integrate with, or just dropped a competitor, has a reason to talk. A company that has used the same stack for years mostly does not.
