GTM engineer

Definition

A GTM engineer builds and maintains the technical systems behind go-to-market: data pipelines, enrichment, scoring, automations and CRM integrations.

GTM engineer in practice

The role sits between RevOps, growth and engineering. A GTM engineer is comfortable in Clay, APIs, webhooks, automation tools like n8n or Make, CRM admin, and increasingly AI models. The job is to turn a GTM strategy into a system that runs on a schedule.

Teams either hire one, train someone internally, or bring in a partner to build the first version and hand it over with documentation. What matters is that someone owns the system after it is built.
