Suppression

Definition

Suppression is the shared do-not-contact state that stops an account or person from being sequenced, after a reply, opt out, bounce or open deal.

Suppression in practice

A suppression list holds everyone who should not get your outreach right now: people who opted out, hard bounces, current customers, open opportunities, competitors, and anyone who just replied on another channel. Some entries are permanent, others expire.

Suppression only works if every tool reads it before it sends. When the list lives inside one sequencer, the LinkedIn tool and the dialler do not see it. IV keeps suppression as shared state that all channels check before they queue a touch, so one account never gets two channels at once.
