Pre-Upgrade Evaluation

Complete before you sign the contract

Make sure Enterprise is genuinely the plan you need, and gather everything Notion Sales will ask for before you start the conversation.

Confirm Enterprise is the right fitEnterprise is for organisations needing advanced security, compliance, SSO, SCIM, and unlimited page history. Verify you cannot meet the requirements on the Business plan at $20 per seat. Audit current plan and seat countList all workspace members, guests, and teamspaces. Note which seats are active versus dormant. Enterprise pricing is custom and negotiated. Day 1 Onboarding

Account activation

The day the contract activates, lock down ownership, identity, and security before anyone starts working.

Receive Enterprise confirmation from Notion SalesYou will get a contract and an activation link. Review the billing terms, as Enterprise is typically annual. Designate workspace owners and adminsAssign at least 2 owners in case of lockout, plus department-level membership admins using granular admin roles. Verify your company domainGo to Settings, then Identity and provisioning, then Domain verification. This unlocks SSO, domain management, and managed users. Configure SAML SSOSet up your IDP connection. Test with a pilot group before rolling out org-wide. Document the SSO URL and certificate. Enable SCIM provisioningConnect your IDP (Okta, Azure AD, or Google). Map groups to Notion roles. Test auto-provisioning with a test account. Workspace Migration and Structure

Weeks 1 to 2

Bring everything under one roof and rebuild the structure cleanly, with permissions that scale.

Consolidate shadow workspacesUse Domain Management to identify and merge any department or personal workspaces into the main org workspace. Rebuild or migrate teamspace structureRecreate open, closed, and private teamspaces as needed, and assign teamspace owners.
